Hugo Hoppmann is a Paris-based designer and creative director. He has recently redesigned the logo of Salomon and rebranded Mugler. Past clients include Apple, Prada and Nike. He was invited to speak at Apple and Yale University and is the founder and publisher of Present, a magazine for empowering Modern Makers.

Born 1988 in Cologne, Germany to a furniture conservator and an instrument builder and musician, Hugo was exposed to arts, craft and entrepreneurship throughout his childhood.
A visit at the house of his early hero Adrian Frutiger consolidated his fascination for Swiss graphic design and ultimately led to his studies at ECAL, the University of Art and Design Lausanne, where he graduated in 2011 in Visual Communication.
Alongside his studies he interned at Bureau Borsche, hired by 032c magazine to build their first website, and founded his first magazine Better Mjstakes.
After graduating Hugo spent powerful years at Meiré und Meiré working for clients including Kenzo, GQ Italia, 032c, and Interview Magazine.
In 2013 he returned to working independently for local and international clients as well as pursuing personal projects and teaching at various universities and cultural institutions.
In 2015 Hugo joined agency 2x4 in their New York City office and worked on a wide range of projects for clients including Prada, Miu Miu, and Sies Marjan. The same year, he had an exhibition of his work and was named a 2015 Young Gun by the Art Directors Club.
In 2017 Hugo decided to refocus on his own projects and studio practice, and started building for clients around the world. He designed a shoe for Nike, and art directed an Adidas campaign with Paul Pogba.
2019 marked the release of the debut issue of his own print magazine Present, now selling in over 25 countries on five continents and is steadily growing as a platform and global community for Modern Makers.
In 2021 Hugo was hired by Apple and worked on the iPhone Pro team. In 2022 his rebranding of Salomon was launched at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
In 2023 Hugo redesigned the logo and iconic star of Paris fashion house Mugler. Meanwhile, the 300-page Issue 3 of PRESENT was published.
In 2024 Hugo moved to Paris to focus fully on his studio practice and the future of Present. He speaks regularly at international festivals; at the 2025 Forward Festival he spoke on the main stage and additionally was invited to curate his own Present stage.
In 2026 Hugo launched presentOS in the App Store and is currently working on Issue 4 for a launch during Paris Fashion Week. He is writing his first book based on his Present Principles to help more Modern Makers find, start, and ship their Thing.
